PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surgical instruments for use in the performance of an improved hip prosthesis replacement procedure.SOLUTION: A finishing rasp 290 comprises an elongated shaft 292, a handle 294, and a cutting head 298. The cutting head has a length extending along a longitudinal axis, and is arcuate in shape so as to extend around only a section of the circumference of the elongated shaft at an open end of a bore 306, and the cutting head comprises a plurality of linear cutting teeth 304 that extend along the length of the cutting head.
