PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide welding equipment and a welding method for a projection nut where, even in the case the opening part on the surface side of a tapped hole is closed with a sealing member, the nut can be exactly held to the correct position of an electrode, and can be welded to a steel sheet component. SOLUTION: Regarding the equipment, a projection nut 8 in which one side is a surface side 20, the other side is a reverse side 19, the reverse side 19 is provided with a projection 9 for welding, and a taper hole 22 is formed at the opening part on the reverse side of the tapped hole 10 is welded to the steel sheet component 59. A recessed part 36 of receiving the surface side 20 in the nut 8 is formed at either electrode, the other electrode is provided with a guide pin 54 passing through the lower hole 60 of the steel sheet component 59, and a taper part 58 corresponding to the taper hole 22 is formed at the tip part of the guide pin 54.
