PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a ring support where forming is possible by one forming stage; and to provide a forming apparatus used for its production. SOLUTION: The peripheral parts 2a, 2b on both the ends of a ring body 2 formed so as to be a cylindrical shape are held, respectively, and, while the ring body 2 is rotated with the axis of the ring body 2 as the central axis, pressure is applied to the compression direction CD of the axis in the ring body 2. Further, a forming roll 10 having a forming pattern 11 on the roll face is pressed against the side face 2c of the ring body 2 while holding a position in which the center 11m of the forming pattern is superimposed on the center 2m of the side face 2c in the ring body 2, so as to form the ring body 2 by the forming pattern 11.
