An alkaline dry battery including a zinc negative electrode prepared by dispersing zinc alloy powder containing 0.015 wt % or less of indium and 0.008 wt % to 0.02 wt % both inclusive of aluminum into a gelled alkaline electrolyte containing 0.5 wt % to 3 wt % both inclusive of a cross-linked water-absorbing polyacrylate polymer, a separator made of a single nonwoven fabric sheet or a stack of multiple nonwoven fabric sheets and has a thickness of 360 mum to 880 mum both inclusive and a positive electrode containing manganese dioxide.
