摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface modification method of a carbonaceous material such as activated carbon fiber having an increased existence ratio of active sites which contribute to desulfurization or denitrification, and to provide a carbonaceous material or activated carbon fiber obtained by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The surface modification method of activated carbon fiber is a surface modification method of a carbonaceous material having an oxygen functional group on the surface, which comprises an oxidation treatment step of subjecting the carbonaceous material to oxidation treatment to form an oxygen functional group and eliminate it to thereby increase the active sites on the surface of the carbonaceous material. The carbonaceous material having an oxygen functional group on the surface can be subjected to oxidation treatment to increase the oxygen functional group and at the same time to eliminate the increased oxygen functional group to increase the active sites on the surface of the carbonaceous material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
