AD CONVERTER

Provided is an AD converter of successive comparison type which outputs digital output data based on an analog input signal.  The AD converter includes: a bit selection unit which successively selects bits to be converted starting with the upper-node side of the output data; a data control unit which outputs comparison data for judging the value of the bit to be converted each time a bit to be converted is selected; a DA conversion unit which outputs an analog comparison signal based on the comparison data; a comparison unit which outputs the comparison result between the input signal and the comparison signal in accordance with the output of the comparison signal by the DA conversion unit and which is reset after the comparison result is outputted; a completion detection unit which detects the output of the comparison result by the comparison unit and outputs a completion signal which causes a bit selection unit to select the next bit to be converted before the reset of the comparison unit; and an output unit which outputs output data deciding a value of each bit in accordance with the comparison result obtained by the comparison unit.
