PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article for enhancing concealment of hip parts while keeping fitness in the hip parts.SOLUTION: When an abdominal sheet member 2A of an absorbent article 1 is virtually and equally divided into three portions in a longitudinal direction X so as to obtain upper, center, and lower sections, the area of each joint part 26a at a portion adjacent to a side seal part 4 in the lower section A3 is defined as Ma. When a back side body part 20b of a back side sheet member 2B is virtually and equally divided into three portions in a longitudinal direction X so as to obtain upper, center, and lower sections, the area of each joint part 26b at a portion adjacent to the side seal part 4 in the lower section B3 is defined as Mb.
