An interlocking floor panel has a predetermined array of adjustable support assemblies positioned near the perimeter of the panel. Each support assembly is securely press-fit into a channel extending through the panel, so that an adjustable base under the panel may be vertically adjusted within the channel by a driver on the top of the panel. The support assembly includes a threaded hollow core in a housing. The adjustable base extends from a threaded cylinder having the driver at its opposite end. The position of the base is adjusted to support the panel on an uneven surface or increase the gap below the panel. The outer surface of the housing is securely nested in the channel and the outer surface is configured to inhibit the movement of the assembly within the channel. An adjustable support assembly may be provided in various panels made from resilient fibrous materials.
