Provided are: a metal surface coating composition that exhibits excellent adhesion to metal and stably protects a metal surface; and a terminal-equipped covered electric wire exhibiting increased corrosion resistance and obtained by using the same. A metal surface coating composition containing a viscous substance that comprises a lubricant base oil and an amide compound, and a composition obtained from a metal and a phosphorous compound that comprises one or more types of compounds represented by general formulas (1) and (2), wherein the ratio (a/b) of the number of amide groups a to the number of acidic groups b is within the range of 1.1-6.0. Therein, X1-X7 each individually represent an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, R11-R13 each individually represent a hydrogen group or a C1-30 hydrocarbon group, and at least one of R11-R13 represents a C1-30 hydrocarbon group, and R14-16 each individually represent a hydrogen group or a C1-30 hydrocarbon group, and at least one of R14-R16 represents a C1-30 hydrocarbon group.
