PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical information exchange system and method capable of converting only selected data, while easily enhancing security, and making it easy to take in electronic medical charts and the like. SOLUTION: A sending part 21 of the medical information exchange system includes: a display means 25 that displays medical information data for different items; a selection means 25 that accepts selection for each item of the data displayed by the display means 25; a conversion means 25 by which the format of the data for the item selected by the selection means 25 is converted into a common data format; and a sending means 22 for sending the data converted by the conversion means 25.
