The ECU (6) has a learning mechanism that determines dispersion of error which shows the reciprocal effect with one moment of the engine (1) in predetermined injection pattern. A moment control mechanism performs moment control to show dispersion of error in the engine at the next injection pattern which is different from the predetermined injection pattern if the injection pattern is changed from predetermined injection pattern to the next injection pattern. An independent claim is included for the control method for internal combustion engine.
