The legs (2) of the tripod (1) can be rotated around horizontal axles (4) with their upper ends and adjusted in length as required. A bar (8) is permanently joined to the inner surface of the upper segment (5) while the two lower segments (6, 7) are rotary joined to the bar (8). A sliding element axially movable along the bar (8) is activated by a turning a ring-shaped handle and acts on both lower leg segments (6, 7) simultaneously.
