The method involves detecting an actual speed of a motor vehicle (1) including a motor vehicle pane (3) by a speed detection device. The detected actual speed is compared with pre-determined threshold values by a control device. The motor vehicle pane is automatically adjusted from a short stroke position to another short stroke position by appropriate control by the control device in dependence of exceeding or falling below of the pre-determined threshold values by the detected actual speed. An independent claim is also included for a device for short-stroke adjustment of a motor vehicle pane.
