METHOD AND SYSTEM OF FILE METADATA MANAGEMENT TRANSPARENT ABOUT ADDRESS CHANGING OF DATA SERVERS AND THEIR DISK MOVEMENTS

A file metadata management method irrespective of data server address change and disk movement and a system thereof are provided to continuously supply a data service without changing file metadata even though an address of a data server is changed. A client requests metadata to a metadata management server(S501). Information of a disk in which file data corresponding to the metadata are stored is checked. An address of the data server in which the file data exists is checked(S502). The checked address of the data server is transmitted to the client. The metadata management server determines validity of the metadata request. The metadata includes file metadata, the number of data blocks and a disk identifier existing in the data server.
