PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition suitable for coating on a base material (including a matrix and a substrate) in development of an improved magnetic ink, toner, pigment or a composition thereof, which has color or hue other than generally dark or black color or hue.SOLUTION: A composition comprises magnetic particles having a diameter of 10,000 nm or less. The magnetic particles each has: a core including at least one kind of magnetic material selected from a group consisting of Fe, Ni, Co, reductive metal oxide, ferrous oxide, nickel oxide, and ferrite expressed by the chemical formula, MFe2O4 (where M represents a divalent metal ion or a divalent metal ion mixture); and an opaque coating which totally covers the core, includes a metal oxide and/or organic polymer, has an average thickness of 5-200 nm, completely envelops the magnetic particle core with the aid of light scattering, and provides an L-value measurement of at least 50 to the magnetic particle. |
