An air conditioner (100) has a vapor compression type refrigeration cycle, the air conditioner (100) being provided with an indoor fan (42) and a control unit (18). The control unit (18) performs normal control to adjust an expansion valve (24) so that the dryness of a refrigerant at an outlet of an indoor heat exchanger (41) satisfies a predetermined dryness when a cooling capacity within a predetermined cooling capacity range that can be achieved by adjusting the frequency of a compressor (21) and/or the air volume of the indoor fan (42) is requested. Furthermore, when a cooling capacity lower than the lower limit of the cooling capacity within the predetermined cooling capacity range is requested, the control unit (18) switches from the normal control to a capacity suppressing control for adjusting the expansion valve (24) so that the refrigerant at the outlet of the indoor heat exchanger (41) is in a wet state and the dryness of the refrigerant satisfies a target dryness that is lower than the dryness of the refrigerant during the normal control. |
