PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the contact of initial flame which is generated from a discharge spark of an ignition plug with a ceiling face of a combustion chamber, related to a spark ignition type internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A spark ignition type internal combustion engine comprises an internal combustion engine 10 which has a pent roof type combustion chamber 12, and in which an air flow flowing to the other roof 12b side from one roof 12a side is generated as an air flow which passes through a discharge gap at ignition. The spark ignition type internal combustion engine also comprises an air flow guide member 24 which is arranged at a wall face of a pair of roofs 12a, and bends a direction of the air flow which passes through the discharge gap at the ignition to a direction B which is inclined to a reference direction orthogonal to a cross line L1 of the wall face of a pair of roofs 12a, 12b when viewing the combustion chamber 12 from a cylinder center axial line. A plug main body of the ignition plug 22 is attached to a cylinder head 16 so that a position of a contact part 22d2 is offset from the direction B of the air flow which is bent by the air flow guide member. |
