摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape information encoding method by which contour information such as an object, a background or the like in an image can highly efficiently be encoded and efficiently stored or transmitted. SOLUTION: When a 4×4-pixel local screen is assumed, the existence of a lateral domain shape is inspected firstly. The existence data 11 of the domain shape to the local screen are obtained by placing 1 when the domain exists, and placing 0 when the domain does not exist. Next, the existence data 11 of the domain shape are converted into line length data 12. Subsequently, the line length data 12 are integer-encoded to obtain integer encoded data 13. Subsequently, processing to distribute the integer encoded data 13 to a unit lateral line length is performed, and then unit lateral line length distribution data 14 are prepared. Furthermore, domain encoded data 15 for each pixel are prepared from unit lateral line length distribution data 14. Similarly, a domain shape in the lengthwise direction is encoded, and domain encoded data 15, 25 for each pixel of width and length are lastly added in an addition part 26 to obtain domain shape encoded data 27 of the local screen.</p>
