PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for a piston-cylinder assembly having a piston valve of simple structure formed of a small number of parts, easy to be assembled, satisfying a required buffer function and to be inexpensively manufactured by using low-cost materials. SOLUTION: This piston for a cylindrical assembly comprises a piston main body 1 fixed to a piston rod 15 freely to move in the axial direction and having a working cylinder 13 divided into two working chambers 14, a hollow part 4 comprising a valve 3 and generating buffering force in the tensile direction and the compressing direction, and a seal part 2 disposed in the peripheral surface of the piston to tightly seal the piston in relation to the working cylinder 13.
