An electrical connector comprises a first mating section 10 including a latching member 16, and a second mating section 30 including a recess 36, each mating section including an elongate channel (20, Fig. 1C), (40, Fig. 2C) for receiving an electrical cable (25, Fig. 4), (45, Fig. 5) and a plurality contacts 17, (37, Fig. 2B) each having an end shaped to pierce the insulation of the electrical cable. When the mating sections are connected, each contact in the first mating section is electrically coupled to a respective contact in the second mating section, and the latching member interacts with the recess to lock the mating sections together. The first mating section may further include a lip (18, Fig. 4) which protrudes from its edge and abuts a profiled recess 38 formed in the second mating section, in order to create a seal between the mating sections. |
