According to the invention, the characteristics of individual telecommunications subscribers are collected by means of a presence server and can be made available for other subscribers and applications. Presence data concerns, for example the subscriber accessibility. The aim of said invention is to record presence data of a group of subscribers. A virtual group friend is applied in the presence server, thereby forming additional information for a virtual subscriber who does not exist in a network but unites the list of existing subscribers of a group. Said invention is advantageous in that an individual context presence data link of subscribers is not carried out by the calling subscriber since it requires potential additional computing capacity of his terminal. The invention is also advantageous in that the subscriber is not obliged to individually interrogate each individual group friend of the group thereof, thereby avoiding an unnecessary high data traffic on a radio interface and a redundant context information link.
