PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus which is excellent in operability, and can suppress or prevent slipping-off of an original from an original platen.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus includes: a housing provided with an original platen for placing an original thereon and reading means for reading the original placed on the original platen; holding means for holding the housing in an inclined attitude; a regulation part which is positioned at a lower end of the original platen in the inclined attitude, and supports a lower end of the original; an original cover member capable of performing switching between a first state in which the original cover member forms a prescribed opening angle with respect to the original platen and a second state in which floating of the lower end of the original from the original platen is suppressed; energization means for energizing the original cover member toward the first state; and an opening/closing body for opening/closing the original platen, which holds the original cover member in the second state by engaging with the original cover member in a closed state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
