摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AF surveying instrument using a branched optical system not affecting AF performance even in the cases where a phase-difference type focus detecting means is combined with a surveying instrument using a branched optical system. SOLUTION: This AF surveying instrument using a branched optical system is equipped with; the branched optical system having a wavelength selecting coat surface that reflects light of a specific wavelength and is positioned between an objective lens and an ocular lens of a collimator so as to incline relative to a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the collimator; and an electro-optical distance meter having a light transmitting system for transmitting distance measuring light via the coat surface of the optical system and a light receiving system for receiving reflection light that is reflected by an object of measurement and then reflected by the coat surface of the optical system. A pair of pupil areas are set in positions that cause light flux passing the pair of pupil areas to come into the coat surface of the optical system at the same incident angles.
