PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine which prevents confusion with respect to the use of an SID signal and prevents ring broadcasting transmission from falling into an infinite loop. SOLUTION: Upon reception of the SID signal, reception control is changed on the basis of communication specifications designated by a sub-address signal. If communication specifications designated by the sub-address signal indicate ring broadcasting transmission, it is judged that the SID signal is information of the facsimile machine which has started ring broadcasting transmission; but if they don't indicate ring broadcasting transmission, it is judged that the SID signal is password information for reception permission. When the SID signal is not received or the facsimile machine is not a member of ring broadcasting transmission corresponding to the sub-address signal through the SID signal is received in the former case, this facsimile machine executes only facsimile reception/storage and doesn't perform forwarding it to the next destination and displays the fact.
