PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cultivating plants designed to cultivate the large amount of plants by effectively utilizing a narrow space. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for cultivating the plants is equipped with a housing 10 provided with a cultivation chamber 20 formed therein. The cultivation chamber 20 in the interior of the housing 10 is provided with a vertically extending support 21 and light sources 17 nearly parallel to the support 21. A plurality of holding tools 22 are installed in a plurality of stages along the support 21 and a plurality of cultivation vessels 23 are arranged in the same plane and held in each holding tool 22. Irradiation of the light sources 17 is carried out from the lateral side of the housing. The cultivation vessels 23 can be arranged in the plurality of stages without dividing the interior of the cultivation chamber 20 in the vertical direction and the plurality of plants can be cultivated in the narrow space.
