PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene resin composition to be used for a packaging bag for heavy commodities, and a film. SOLUTION: The polyethylene resin composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of the total of (a) 95-60 wt.% of a linear low-density polyethylene satisfying specific properties obtained by polymerization using a metallocene catalyst and (b) 5-40 wt.% of a high-pressure low-density polyethylene satisfying specific properties, and 0.005-2 pts.wt. of a basic fatty acid metal salt: mM<SP>1</SP>O-M<SP>2</SP>(OOCR)<SB>2</SB>.
