PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent EVF displaying even when a stopping switch is operated to confirm the state of the depth of field in focus or the degree of blurring in a background during EVF displaying. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging element 14 for converting an optical image to be formed via a photographing lens into an electric signal; an image display device 28 for displaying before-photographing image or a photographing image; and the stopping switch 74 for stopping the diaphragm of the photographing lens to obtain an arbitrary diaphragm value. When the stopping switch 74 is operated in the case of the electronic view finder for displaying the before-photographing image by the image display device 28, the output condition or the processing of the output signal is changed in the imaging element 14.
