PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can be used for easily producing a urethane foam unswellable by water, excellent in water-absorbing properties, and applicable to medical use, sanitary use, etc., without performing foaming or impregnation with an organic solvent. SOLUTION: The method produces an open-cell urethane foam and includes the process of reacting a polyol with an isocyanate compound in the presence of a foam stabilizer. The foam stabilizer is a polyorganosiloxane-polyether block copolymer and has the following characteristics: its polyether part is bonded to an Si atom of its polyorganosiloxane part through one CH<SB>2</SB>group or three or more contiguous CH<SB>2</SB>groups; the Si content in the molecule is 0.8-9.5 wt.%; and the molar ratio of ethyleneoxy units to propyleneoxy units of the polyether chain is 1.5 or lower. The open-cell urethane foam is produced by heat compressing an obtained foam having an air permeability of at least 25 L/min with a compression ratio of 5.5-12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
