The invention relates to a radial fan having a crucible-shaped impeller (10) and a housing (11) receiving the impeller (10), wherein the circumferential wall (18) of the housing, starting at a first circumferential wall region (19) arched in the manner of a pitch circle and extending directly along the impeller (10), on the one hand, in the direction of rotation of the impeller (10) has a second circumferential wall region (20), which has a radial distance to the impeller (10) that increases in a spiral-like manner up to an outlet region (21), and, on the other hand, has a third circumferential wall region (22) likewise extending up to the outlet region (21) counter to the direction of rotation of the impeller (10). Two side walls (25, 26) cover the axial fronts of the impeller, wherein a separating wall (28) disposed on one of the side walls engages in the crucible-shaped impeller (10), and partitions the interior thereof into a first (V1) and a second suction chamber (V2), wherein a suction opening (29) is associated with the first suction chamber (V1). The third circumferential wall region (22) is arched in an S-shaped manner, starting from the first circumferential wall region (19), up to the outlet region (21), wherein the partial region (24) thereof, which is arched in the same direction as the first circumferential wall region (19), forms a flow-guiding element for an airflow returned to the second suction chamber (V2). The outlet region (21) expands in the outlet flow direction in the manner of a diffuser in the cross-section. By means of this configuration a radial fan is obtained, having increased efficiency and increased fan output with a low volume.
