COMPLEX POLYGON SIMPLIFICATION ALGORITHM

A complex polygon simplification method is provided to simplify a complex polygon having a hole and a cross point and convert the simplified polygon into a block polygon suitable for a graphic system. A complex polygon simplification method comprises the following steps. A sweep line is generated on a vertex existing on a polygon(102). The polygon is divided centering on the sweep line(104). The divided polygons are selectively merged to generate at least one concave polygon(108). At least one concave polygon is converted into at least one convex polygon(110).
