PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a sintered magnet by using a powder filling apparatus capable of packing powder in a container with an almost uniform packing density.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a sintered magnet comprises a powder-packing step, an orientation step, and a sintering step which are performed in an oxygen-free atmosphere. The powder-packing step includes: attaching a hopper for packing alloy powder to be a raw material of the sintered magnet in a container 30, which has an opening provided with a grid member 113 to the container so that the hopper communicates with the container at the opening and the container hermetically closes the opening 112, provided that the grid member is arranged so that a grid formed on the side of a side wall of the hopper becomes finer than that on the side to the center of the hopper 11; supplying the alloy powder into the hopper; and repeatedly supplying a compressed inert gas like pulses into the hopper with the hopper attached to the container. In the orientation step, a magnetic field is applied to the alloy powder without applying a mechanical pressure with the alloy powder remaining packed in the container, thereby orienting the alloy powder. In the sintering step, the alloy powder is sintered by heating without applying a mechanical pressure with the alloy powder remaining packed in the container.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
