PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of aliphatic alcohol with industrially satisfactorily high productivity and high quality by preventing by-production of hydrocarbon or the like without special post treatment.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method of aliphatic alcohol having 8 to 22 carbon atoms by hydrogenating aliphatic acid or aliphatic acid ester with a catalyst, which is the below described catalyst carrying a catalyst metal on a carrier. There is provided the manufacturing method of aliphatic alcohol, where porosity of the catalyst is 30 to 99%, reaction temperature of hydrogenation is 150 to 300°C and reaction pressure is 1 to 30 MPa by gauge pressure. (a) One or more element selected from Co and Cu is contained as the catalyst metal. (2) Total pore volume of the catalyst is 0.05 mL/g or more. (c) Volume of pore having a pore size in range of 0.1 to 500 μm is 50% or more of the total pore volume of the catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
