PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the sensitivity of a human sensor for detecting the presence of an operator constant without being affected by the angle of inclination of a display surface of an image display device. SOLUTION: As shown in Figure (a), the image display device 1 positions a display surface 2a of a display means 2 to an arbitrary angle of inclination by oscillation of a casing 3 relative to a pedestal 4. As shown in Figure (b), the human sensor 5, which is fixed with a light emitting element 6 of IR rays, etc., and a light receiving element 7 on a substrate 11 and is integrated and fastened with a bearing 12 in the upper part of the substrate 11, is formed and the top end thereof is hung turnably by a revolving shaft 16 fixed to the casing 3 not shown in the figures. While the human sensor 5 is held static, the axes of the light emitting element 6 and the light receiving element 7 are always nearly parallel. The luminous flux emitted from the light emitting element 6 transmits the window part 3b, is reflected by the surface of the operator' s body, again passes through the window part 3b and is made incident on the light receiving element 7. The quantity of this incident light does not change regardless of the angle of inclination of the display surface 2a and the sensitivity of the human sensor is kept constant at all times.
