The interface (1) has a common interface port connected to a digital television reception unit (2), and a receiver unit receiving transportation stream over the port. An analyzing unit analyzes coding of a television program, which is provided within the received transportation stream. A conversion unit converts the program, which is received over an analog transmission path, into MPEG-format. A production unit produces a new transportation stream (9) from the program on the basis of encoding. A transmission unit transmits the new transportation stream to the reception unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilizing a television program.
