PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the slew rate of an external load capacity connected to an operational amplifier. SOLUTION: The operational amplifier comprises: an input differential pair 20 for amplifying an inputted differential signal; an AB class output stage 30 including transistors M<SB>p1</SB>and M<SB>n1</SB>which are to be driven on the outputs of the input differential pair 20 and outputting first output signals according to the driving of the transistors M<SB>p1</SB>and M<SB>n1</SB>; comparing portions 40 and 50 which compare the outputs of the input differential pair with reference voltages V<SB>ref1</SB>and V<SB>ref2</SB>and output comparison signals according to the comparison results; and an auxiliary output stage 60 which includes transistors M<SB>p2</SB>and M<SB>n2</SB>to be driven on the comparison signals and outputs a second output signal according to the driving of the transistors M<SB>p2</SB>and M<SB>n2</SB>.
