PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitarily set the movement range of a focusing lens group and to vary the movement range according to circumstances. SOLUTION: In this automatic focusing device, the lens group is moved within a first focus range when the starting position of the lens group is within the first focus range (a). The lens group is moved in a second focus range when the starting position is within the second focus range (b) and when the starting position is in a third focus range (c), the group is moved within the third focus range. When the starting position is in the remote limit position and if an object is on an end point at infinity side, the lens group is moved within the first focus range (a). If the body to be photographed is on the short distance end point side, the lens group is moved within the second focus range (b). When the starting position is on the short side limit position, if the object is on the end point at infinity side, the lens group is moved within the second focus range (b). If the object is on the short distance end point side, the lens group is moved within the third focus range (c). |
