PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten an adjustment time when using a sheet to be actually used to adjust images on front and back sides.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus for performing front/back adjustment for adjusting the positions or magnification factors of images formed on both sides of a sheet, first front/back adjustment processing and second front/back adjustment processing are switched in accordance with a kind of a sheet to be an object of front/back adjustment, or a state during reading the sheet. In the first front/back adjustment processing, adjusting patterns are formed on the sheet, front/back adjustment is performed on the basis of read data obtained by simultaneously reading a front adjusting pattern from the front side of the sheet and a back adjusting pattern undergoing set-off. In the second front/back adjustment processing, adjusting patterns are formed on two sheets, front/back adjustment is performed on the basis of read data obtained by reading a front adjusting pattern from the front side of the first sheet, and read data obtained by reading a back adjusting pattern from the back side of the second sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
