PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type aerial image formation element with which it is possible to reduce a manufacturing workload.SOLUTION: Provided is a reflection type aerial image formation element comprising tabular first and second optical panels formed by joining a plurality of transparent bases 11 together by a joint material 12 placed on a joint surface 11a extending in one direction, a first optical panel 1 and a second optical panel being stacked one on top of another so that the direction in which the joint surface 11a of the first optical panel 1 extends and the direction in which the joint surface 11a of the second optical panel extends intersect at right angles, wherein, assuming that ng denotes the refractive index of the bases 11 and na denotes the refractive index of the joint material 12, the expression ng-na≥0.1 is satisfied, and a total reflection surface for a prescribed incident light is formed by the joint surfaces 11a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
