PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcasting service using an MPEG-DASH method.SOLUTION: A receiver includes: a receiver unit for receiving a broadcast wave of digital broadcasting; and a control unit for forming at least one of selecting or structuring a component having a plurality of layer structures to select or structure, on the basis of an MPD conforming to the MPEG-DASH standard transmitted through a broadcast wave or a communication network, and for reproducing content configured by one or a plurality of components. The present technique is applicable to a television receiver, for example.
