PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst film having large adhesive strength to a substrate and many reactively active centers, a catalyst carrier and methods for manufacturing the catalyst film and the catalyst carrier. SOLUTION: Each of this catalyst film and this catalyst carrier has anα-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>film and anη-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>film arranged in this order on the substrate and is manufactured by depositing theα-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>film on the substrate by an aerosol deposition method and forming theη-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>film on theα-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>film.
