<p>A hologram device comprising a light generating means for generating from a coherent light a reference light and a signal light modulated from a coherent light according to recording information, an interfering means for spatially separating the light paths of the reference light and the signal light from each other to allow either one optical path to cross the other light path and to allow the reference light and the signal light to interfere with each other, a support unit for detachably supporting a hologram record carrier at the intersection between the light paths of the reference light and the signal light, and an image detecting means for receiving a light diffracted from the diffraction grating of the hologram record carrier when the reference light is applied to the hologram record carrier. The hologram device further comprises a light deflecting element for extracting a partial light flux from the light flux of the reference light to selectively deflect the partial light flux to within an area range smaller than the section area of the light flux of the reference light, and a light deflection drive circuit for controlling the element to select the partial light flux when information is recorded or reproduced. The light deflecting element consists of a mask unit provided with a plurality of adjoining windows through each of which the transmission and non-transmission of the partial light flux are controlled according to a voltage applying condition, and a light deflection unit provided with a plurality of adjoining transparent prisms each disposed on the light path of the partial light flux passing through windows and deflecting the partial light flux.</p> |
