PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which aberration in a short focus lens is suppressed. SOLUTION: A projection optical system 30 has an aspheric lens and is configured so that light can be thrown up at a field angle in the range of about 60°to about 80°by using the light away from an optical axis. Thus, a desired size image can be obtained at a short projection distance and astigmatism caused by using the light away from the optical axis can be efficiently corrected by the aspheric lens.
