摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device and a scanning type optical device which can obtain a large deflection angle at high speed, is small in size and is reduced in cost. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device is equipped with an electrooptical crystal 13 which is changed in a refractive index distribution according to the magnitude of an internally generated electric field, electrodes 11a, 11b for intensity modulation which apply a voltage for causing the birefringence of the electrooptical crystal 13 to change, electrodes 12a, 12b for scanning which apply the voltage for causing the refractive index distribution of the electrooptical crystal 13 to change, and a polarization selection member 15 which is disposed on at least an exit end surface 13b of an incident end surface 13a and exit end surface 13b of the laser beam of the electrooptical crystal 13 and allows the selective transmission of the light in a specific vibration direction of the light emitted from the electrooptical crystal 13.
