PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform simply transmission spectroscopic measurement of a liquid sample having a weak concentration and requiring a long optical path length. SOLUTION: A sampler is used, which comprises an optically-intransmissible subject part having a through hole linking the first face to the second face which are mutually parallel, and provided with a liquid escape groove linking to the through hole on the surface of the first face; a planar bottom surface part formed integrally with the subject part, and comprising an optically-transmissible material, for sealing the end of the second face side of the through hole; and a planar lid part comprising an optically-transmissible material. After filling the liquid sample into a sample holding hole comprising the through hole and the bottom surface part in the state where the first face of the sampler is faced upward, the lid part is placed, to thereby hold the liquid sample, and measuring light is irradiated from the upper direction or the lower direction to the liquid sample.
