PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a correlation operation device, a correlation operation method, and a program, capable of processing highly accurately at high speed, when acquiring three-dimensional position information of an object from a plurality of images. SOLUTION: The device includes an image acquisition part 2 for acquiring a standard image and a reference image; a multiple resolution image generation part 3 for generating a plurality of hierarchical images having each different resolution relative to the standard image and the reference image; a SAD operation part 5 for calculating a distance value based on a parallax value between the standard image and the reference image; an image selection part 7 for selecting a hierarchical image having the optimum resolution for starting search for a corresponding point based on the distance value from among the hierarchical images; and a POC operation part 8 for starting search for the corresponding point from the hierarchical image selected by the image selection part 7, and when search relative to the hierarchical image is finished, searching for the corresponding point relative to the hierarchical image having a high resolution sequentially, while reflecting a search result relative to the hierarchical image to next search, and repeating search for the corresponding point in due order until reaching a hierarchical image having the highest resolution.
