The invention relates to a device for obtaining fruits and vegetables with a heart-shaped cross-section, which can be used for the practical and commercial production of fruits and vegetables with this novel appearance. The device includes: a container comprising two symmetrical parts which, when joined, form a heart shape; a fixed pin acting as a hinge and containing a helical spring for maintaining the device in the closed position and a ring for supporting same; and another pin for keeping the device closed, said pin also having a ring enabling same to be easily removed from the device. According to the invention, the hinge pin is installed in the device, the device is opened and the small piece of fruit or vegetable is placed inside same, such as to obstruct the growth thereof and obtain the aforementioned heart shape and dimensions. The device can be used to transform and change the appearance of fruits and vegetables from the traditional natural shapes associated therewith, in order to satisfy the consumer's desire for food products with distinctive, unique aesthetic forms different from those traditionally available.
