MODULAR MULTI-LEVEL CONVERTER

The present invention provides a modular multi-level converter which can efficiently control a plurality of sub modules. The modular multi-level converter according to an embodiment comprises: a plurality of sub modules having switching elements; a plurality of sub controllers for controlling the switching elements respectively which are included in the sub modules; and a central controller for determining switching operation conditions of the sub modules, and transmitting control signals corresponding to the determined switching operation conditions to the sub controllers. Each of the sub controllers obtains state information of the sub module that the sub controller controls, and transmits the obtained state information to the central controller.
