Abstract A screw pile having a shaft (322) and at least one screw or plate (324, 326) for screwing the screw pile into the ground, the screw pile further including at least one laterally 5 extending protection (362, 364, 366) that forces soil or earth away from the projection as the screw pile is being screwed into the ground. The at least one laterally extending projection (362, 364, 366) may comprise outwardly extending fins. The fins may be mounted to a cylindrical housing (368) they can rotate relative to the shaft of the screw pile. |
