PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection pump 2 capable of easily securing a mounting space for a first fuel pressure regulating valve 32 and improving workability of a fuel passage formed on a pump housing 3. SOLUTION: The first fuel pressure regulating valve 32 regulating delivery pressure of a feed pump 7 constructs a pump unit 1 together with a feed pump 7 by inserting a valve body in a mounting hole formed on a pump case 22 of the feed pump 7. The first fuel pressure regulating valve 32 is arranged in such a manner that a movable direction (longitudinal direction of the first fuel pressure regulating valve 32) of a piston movable in an inside of the valve body crosses an axial direction of the fuel injection pump 2 at right angle. Namely, the same is arranged in parallel with an outer wall of a pump housing 3 on which the feed pump 7 is fixed. Consequently, the mounting space for the first fuel pressure regulating valve 32 can be easily secured and degree of freedom in layout can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
