PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing structure which enables a plurality of steel plates to be connected together without the need for welding or much labor, when an existing column is reinforced by mounting the plurality of steel plates in such a manner as to surround the existing column. SOLUTION: This reinforcing structure 10 reinforces the existing column 1 by making the steel plates 12 mounted in such a manner as to surround at least a vertical part of the existing column 1. The steel plate 12 is split into a plurality of parts in such a manner as to be horizontally arranged along an outer peripheral surface. An adhesive makes a stiffening plate 11 stuck astride ends of the split steel plates 12 horizontally adjacent to each other, so that the split steel plates 12 can be connected together.
